Hey, I am Heather, I want to help you
with your photography!

I am a commercial food photographer based in Austin, Texas.

I pride myself on being able to help my clients achieve their business goals. With over fifteen years of experience, I work hard to deeply understand who the target customer is. My creativity, communication skills, and ability to style a scene, have resulted in a myriad of successful campaigns, helping my clients increase their sales and brand metrics.

My work has graced 15 magazine covers for major food publications and created campaigns for internationally recognized food and beverage brands, including Ghirardelli, OONI, Bob’s Red Mill, Louis Jadot, and more.

My passion for photography began in 2010. I purchased my first film camera after moving to Los Angeles to study art at the University of Southern California. Photography began as a fascination with light, which evolved to portraits, but a deep love of cooking and cuisine eventually led me to focus on food styling and food photography.

I love that with photography there is no end to the depth of learning and growth. Always seeking new perspectives and ways to evolve and innovate—not only through food photography but also portraits, architecture, and creative composites—through courses, experimentation, and most importantly collaborating with others.

My thoughts on the business of photography and practical tips for being in the studio

One of the things I’m often asked is

“What is your story? How did you get started?”

My background

Hailing from a small town in New Hampshire, I was raised by artistic and entrepreneurial parents who encouraged me to indulge my curiosity to create—a strategy that translates effortlessly into the art I produce today. My parents, themselves musicians and artists, launched and run a greeting card company, instilling in me from an early age a sense that one’s true happiness in life emerges from following the heart and indulging the artistic voice within.

My background

I am inspired by dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, Matisse for his use of color, the fashion of the 1940s, Bauhaus, the Art Nouveau design movement, everything about France, and the architecture of Barcelona. My influences range from photographer Annie Liebowitz to artist Cig Harvey and the iconic designer and visionary William Morris. I combine these perspectives with my own, informed by the essential energy of the subject, to produce work that is uniquely my own. Often whimsical, always colorful, sometimes cheeky, My goal to create imagery is a delicious feast for the senses, replete with a rich interplay of light, movement, and color vivid enough to ignite the palate.

Outside of photography

In my spare time, you might find me in our garden in Austin Texas, cultivating my herbalist tendencies, creating new recipes for my flower-focused blog, or spending quality time with my husband, two children, and beagle puppies.
